London Design Guide

Project Type:
Books

Client:
Max Fraser

The London Design Guide was Max Fraser’s rather tasty annual guide to the best of London’s design scene:

“It includes reviews of design shops, galleries, institutions, and design bookshops, as well as restaurant, bar, cafe, and hotel recommendations. Detailed maps of key areas help you to navigate around the city, accompanied by personal tours by locals. Topical editorial features add more commentary and highlight trends and issues affecting design today. A membership scheme gives readers access to exclusive offers and promotions.”

Max asked me, together with my then studio partners David Pearson and Paul Finn, to create the book’s cover; while the main body of the guide was designed by the very talented Richard Ardagh.

We took elements from graph paper, and from maps of London, and then combined them to create a single ‘design guide grid’.
